Tarbuck and Joseph-Buadi on target for young Blues
Pompey Academy recorded their first victory of the season with a 2-0 win at Northampton.
Bradley Tarbuck opened the scoring from the penalty spot following a foul on Jae Heon Kim.
Brandon Joseph-Buadi then converted Fahad Rwakarambwe’s cross with a neat header at the near post to secure victory before the interval.
Academy coach Paul Hardyman said: “We had been working on our defending all week in training with the objective of keeping a clean sheet, so I was pleased with the result.
“We looked really solid at the back, but also played some good football going forward.
“At half-time we told the lads to expect Northampton to look more dangerous in the second half and that’s exactly what happened.
“But we were extremely resilient and I was pleased with a good all-round performance from the boys.
“Our under-16 side also beat Northampton 1-0, so it was nice to see three Pompey sides all win and keep a clean sheet on Saturday.”
