Ferry: The Future's Bright

16 August 2013

Feature interview with midfielder in Saturday's programme

Simon Ferry dropped down a division to join Pompey earlier in the summer.

But the midfielder has no regrets about playing in the bottom tier of the Football League.

Ferry knows winning promotion from League Two will be tough, but believes the future is bright at Fratton Park.

“There were other clubs interested in me,” he says in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash with Morecambe at Fratton Park. “But the truth is that none of them excited me as much as Portsmouth.

“I spoke to Joe Devera and Matt Ritchie and they both told me what a good club this is.

“If we can get out of League Two then the sky’s the limit. I see coming here as a long-term move.

“I know we haven’t won yet, but when I was at Swindon we had a new team and it took us around 10 games to get into a good rhythm.”

You can read the full interview with Ferry in the official matchday magazine on Saturday.

Issue three of our new-look programme is another packed edition, with a double-sided pull-out poster and collectable player cards among the great features.

Also in the perfect-bound 84-page publication, Tom Craddock discusses his firsts and there are exclusive columns from Iain McInnes, Guy Whittingham and Johnny Ertl.

There’s another exciting adventure for Nelson and Mary Rose in our comic strip, while augmented reality technology – courtesy of Blippar and Navigate Digital – will bring the programme to life.

Saturday’s matchday magazine is available to buy from programme sellers in and around Fratton Park and is great value at just £3.
