New children's programme on sale

For the first time ever at Portsmouth Football Club – and thanks to Affinion International – a new children’s programme will be sold at every home league game this season.

Pompey in the Community will be delivering a curriculum based workshop to school children from across the region that focuses on literacy, numeracy and ICT to allow children in the city to design and make a programme for their fellow fans.

Adam Lea education manager at Pompey in the Community said: ‘‘We are delighted to be working with Affinion International on this completely unique and innovative project.

“Thanks to Portsmouth Football Club’s continued support of the younger fan, we felt that this was the perfect opportunity to launch such an initiative.

“The PUP Programme will allow the children to work on the initial stages right the way through to the final production.

“As a result of this project, it is hoped that it will raise the aspiration levels and help towards the children’s schoolwork and academic grades in the future.”

April Leigh, one of the children who has worked on the Oxford United programme said: ‘‘I have really enjoyed working on the programme, I have learnt an awful lot and I hope people enjoy reading it as much as I’ve enjoyed making it.”

The PUP has some fantastic content for children to delve into, with pages of football quizzes, player interviews and much, much more.

The Oxford United match will see the launch of the The PUP and volunteers will be selling the 24-page programme outside the ground for fans to buy for just 50p.

All the proceeds from the programme go back into Pompey in the Community to continue to deliver educational football themed sessions and workshops to the local community and surrounding areas.
