Cooper Targets Festive Haul

24 December 2013

Lots of points to play for over Christmas

Christmas is a busy time in English football.

And this season is no different with matches against Dagenham & Redbridge, Northampton, Southend and Accrington over the festive period.

Shaun Cooper has targeted a big points haul from those fixtures as Pompey try to get their campaign back on track.

“There are a lot of points on offer in a short space of time,” he says in the official matchday magazine for Boxing Day’s clash with Dagenham & Redbridge. “This period could end up being what kick-starts our season.

“The table doesn’t make for great reading at the moment and we can’t get to a position where we’re desperate for points with just a few games remaining.

“We need to be well above the bottom two and looking up rather than down, so we’ll take one match at a time and focus on what’s directly in front of us.”

You can read the full interview with Cooper – where he also talks about the life of a footballer at Christmas – in the Boxing Day programme.

Issue 14 is another packed edition with a double-sided pull-out poster and collectable player cards.

Also in the perfect-bound 84-page publication, Andy Barcham discusses his firsts, we take an in-depth look at Dagenham & Redbridge and there are exclusive columns from Richie Barker, Iain McInnes and Johnny Ertl.

The Boxing Day matchday magazine is available to buy from programme sellers around Fratton Park and is great value at just £3.
