Express FM and Pompey team up to provide unrivalled coverage
Portsmouth Football Club and Express FM have agreed a partnership which will see commentary of all Pompey's games, home and away, streamed live through the club's new media player and broadcast simultaneously on the city's community radio station.
Heading up the club's matchday commentary team is Dan Windle, an experienced broadcaster who ended last season as Express FM's chief commentator and he will be assisted in the stand by Dave 'Bunky' Bowers and Dan Brett.
Bunky is a former News journalist, columnist and ex-Pompey press officer. He was also a major contributor to the seminal Pompey fanzine Frattonise.
Dan Brett is an up-and-coming commentator with experience from former club station pfcTV, as well as journalistic experience with a couple of Pompey fan websites.
The matchday team will be supported regularly by a pool of expert guests. During the week Express FM will broadcast the Football Hour five times a night in the week between 6pm and 7pm, with its usual mix of Pompey comment and features on grassroots football.
In addition Express FM will be supplying the Pompey Player with unique documentary content.
Engagement manager Micah Hall said: “This is a great deal for Pompey fans. Not only will they have access to match commentary free-to-air from a dedicated station, they will also be able to access it anywhere in the world via the Pompey Player.
“The commentary team is really strong. With Dan's anchor-man experience and Bunky and Brett's sometimes irreverent take on matters Pompey, we are sure fans will love our matchday show with a uniquely Pompey angle.
“In addition to commentary on every match there is a wealth of video interviews and comments with current and former players, and it is worth every penny of the subscription charge.
“We were keen to maintain our relationship with Express FM, so as soon as we agreed this deal we were able to take the planned Pompey Player commentary team to Express FM know-how and technical savvy.
“The net result is a superb service for our Pompey Player subscribers.'”
The Pompey Player is available to subscribers from just 10p per day. Click here to subscribe.
Express FM are equally pleased to be covering the club again. Station director Cheryl Buggy said: “We have been proud to cover Pompey for three seasons now and this new arrangement takes our relationship with the club to a new level.
“Express FM is a hothouse for young media talent in the city and we are really excited at the chance for our aspiring broadcast journalists to provide bespoke content for the Pompey Player.”
