East Searching For Right Role

16 July 2013

Newcomer searching for his best position

He has already been labelled Mr Versatility.

But Danny East hopes he can find a regular position in the Pompey side.

The 21-year-old was used as a full-back in the Blues’ opening pre-season fixtures at Havant & Waterlooville and Bognor.

But he partnered Johnny Ertl in the centre of midfield for 60 minutes of a goalless draw at Braintree.

And East is adamant that he will continue to give his all no matter where he is asked to turn out.

He said: “I enjoyed playing further forward and being able to get on the ball and play some passes.

“I played two halves at right-back and thought I did well and then 60 minutes in central-midfield at Braintree and thought I did well again.

“Obviously I want to make a position my own, but I’ll always give 110 per cent wherever the gaffer decides to play me.”

East is now looking forward to making his Fratton debut against Charlton on Saturday – and is expecting plenty of support.

He said: “We’ve sold 10,000 season tickets in League Two and that’s unbelievable. I think the fans can help us a lot in this league.

“It makes you so excited to get the season started – it can’t come quickly enough for me.

“I’ve heard so much about the support at Fratton Park and I can’t wait to get out there and experience it for myself.”
