Bradley not worried about Charlton defeat

Pompey’s first Fratton fixture of the season ended in a 3-0 defeat to Charlton.

But the result won’t give Sonny Bradley any sleepless nights ahead of the big League Two kick-off.

Facing Championship opposition was always going to be tough for a Blues side who had only previously played non-league sides.

And strikes from Bradley Pritchard and Callum Harriott, as well as a Yann Kermorgant penalty, saw the visitors comfortably take the spoils.

But Bradley does not believe the result will have any affect on the important games that lie ahead.

The defender said: “You can’t really look too much at the results in pre-season, but you could see that it was set-pieces and crosses that we need to work on.

“It’s the first time that we’ve played a really strong team and we’ve got a lot to work on.

“But I think we can take a lot of positives from the game and it should be a bright season ahead.

“It’s a tough league and we’ve got to go to difficult places like Accrington and AFC Wimbledon.

“It’s going to be physical, but we’ve got players in the team that have played at this level and know what it’s about.

“We’ve all come together recently and as the season goes on you should see us develop as a team.”

Bradley was paired with Joe Devera at the heart of Pompey’s defence against Charlton and hopes the relationship will flourish.

He said: “I haven’t played with him much previously, but he’s good on the ball and is experienced – I think we can build a good partnership.”
