Tony Brown arrives at Fratton Park

Pompey have appointed experienced Tony Brown as the club's new Finance Director.

Brown has worked for a number of football clubs, including Everton, Cardiff City and Blackburn in a similar capacity and his arrival strengthens the senior management team at Fratton Park.

Most recently he was interim Finance Director at Plymouth Argyle for six months before coming to Portsmouth.

Tony Brown said: "This is a proper football club with a fantastic fan base and history. I am excited to be joining at this key time as we re-launch the business and to be part of building a future that the club and its fans so richly deserve."

Club director and Trust executive board member Mick Williams, who had assumed the role of monitoring the finances at the club in the short term after the community buy-out was completed, said: "I am delighted that we have been able to recruit Tony to help Pompey in its cause to become a truly sustainable community club.

"Tony has recent experience in managing the finances of football clubs and this will be invaluable to us as we go forward."

Chief executive Mark Catlin added: "I have known of Tony in football circles for a number of years now and his understanding of football finance and disciplines will become key to our future success.

"He is yet another fantastic addition to our executive 'off-field' team which is already performing exceptionally well in both stabilising and growing the club.”
