Pompey Partner With Radio Solent

31 July 2013

Deal secured for next two seasons

Pompey have named BBC Radio Solent as their media partner for DAB Digital and medium wave frequencies for the next two seasons.

Chief executive Mark Catlin announced the deal on the eve of the exclusive BBC Radio Solent Fans' Forum, which will be recorded tonight at Fratton Park and broadcast on Thursday, August 1 at 7.05pm on the 96.1FM frequency.

Solent will cover every kick of every Pompey league and cup game live in the 2013/14 and 2014/15 season.

“We are delighted to have secured agreement with BBC Radio Solent to deliver Pompey match commentaries on the DAB Digital and AM frequencies in the south of England,” said Catlin.

“The club has long had an excellent relationship with the station and we are grateful for their high-quality service which enables Pompey fans all over the south to access news about the club and matchday commentary.

“The fact the club is making the Solent Fans' Forum the only pre-season one of its type underlines our commitment to them. As a result of this deal Pompey fans now have an audio broadcast media service second-to-none.”

Adam Blackmore, head of sport at BBC Radio Solent said: “I'm delighted that our long standing commentary commitment to Pompey will continue for at least another two years.

“I'd like to thank the new board at the club for the manner in which they have embraced what we do, and I'm sure it's going to be an exciting season for Pompey fans, as we all welcome in a bright new era for the club.”

Pompey matches can be heard on the BBC DAB Digital Hampshire service and 999AM on the medium wave starting at 2pm on Saturdays and 7pm for midweek fixtures.
