Places available this summer

Are you leaving school this summer, but have no plans until you start college or your apprenticeship in September?

Well, The National Citizen Service (NCS) could be your answer.

Pompey in the Community (PitC) and NCS provide young people aged 16-17 from all backgrounds with the opportunity to take on new challenges, learn new skills and make a difference by getting involved in the local community.

As part of the programme, the young people are able to take part in free courses and earn qualifications, volunteer and gain valuable work experience.

PitC currently has places available in the programme, which will run for four weeks from Monday, July 8.

Participants are asked to pay £50 to book a place on the programme, although £25 will be refunded upon completion of the four weeks.

However, no further financial contribution is required as all activities are free, including a week at an outdoor activity centre, a weeks residential in the local community based at the University of Portsmouth and then two weeks working towards a sports-based project within the local community.

If you’re interested, please contact NCS coordinator James Shannon during office hours by calling (023) 9272 8899 or emailing james.shannon@pompeyitc.org.uk
