Pompey Away To Cherries

17 June 2013

Blues make the short trip to Goldsands Stadium in Capital One Cup

Pompey have been drawn away to Bournemouth in the first round of the Capital One Cup.

Guy Whittingham’s side will make the short trip to the Goldsands Stadium in the week beginning August 5.

It will be the Blues’ second trip to Dorset in the space of a fortnight, with the sides also playing a pre-season friendly on Tuesday, July 23.

Pompey played the Cherries – who won promotion to the Championship last term – three times in 2012/13.

A 1-1 draw at Fratton Park was followed by a penalty shoot-out triumph for the Blues in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, while Bournemouth won 2-0 on their own patch in the league.

The Cherries were 2-1 victors when the sides last met in the League Cup in August 1971, with Albert McCann on target for Pompey.
