Bring Your Beans

Help feed the hungry

For the fourth year running, local charity Faith & Football are promoting a food drive to support the local food bank.

The ‘Bring Your Beans’ campaign invites everyone to donate non-perishable items to be distributed across the city to those that are going without. Food banks throughout the country have seen a rapid increase of pleas for help.

This year alone, the Portsmouth service has seen a 70 per cent rise in people asking for food to feed their families. To help meet this increased need, Faith & Football are joining with Pompey in the Community and Pompey’s 12th Man to maximise donations.

As Christmas time approaches and the majority of us will tuck into turkey with all the trimmings it’s good to be reminded of the needs of others. We can all help make a difference.

The Big Yellow Self Storage in Rodney Road is the official donation station and welcome gifts of milk (UHT or powdered), sugar, tea bags, instant coffee, fruit juice (carton), soup, rice/ pasta, pasta sauces, cereals, instant mash potato, tinned meat/fish, tinned fruit, tinned vegetables, jam/spreads, biscuits and sponge pudding (tinned).

The ‘Bring Your Beans’ campaign’ is running from Monday, November 25 to Friday, December 6. Donations can be made from 9am-5pm.

The Pompey Bus in the Fratton End car park is also a donation station for the remaining home games of the 2013.
