Craddock's Goal Hunt

22 November 2013

Striker looking to open his account after returning from injury

Tom Craddock has endured a frustrating start to his Pompey career.

The striker has suffered a series of niggling injuries since arriving from Oxford over the summer.

But he is currently fighting fit and has been involved in both of the Blues’ last two matches.

Now Craddock is looking to get a run in the side and open his goalscoring account.

He said: “I was training for about two weeks before I played at Newport and haven’t missed a session since I was back.

“I’m getting there, but it’s still going to take some time until I’m where I want to be.

“I think this is longest I’ve gone without scoring, but I’ve only started two games so far this season.

“So I’m not low on confidence – I just have to keep going and I’m sure that first goal will come.”

Pompey host Scunthorpe on Saturday, looking to recover from a run of three successive defeats on the road.

Craddock said: “Obviously it’s not great when you lose the last two in the manner that we have.

“But we had a long discussion in the dressing room after the AFC Wimbledon match and it’s been a bit more up-tempo in training since then.

“We’ve been working really hard and everyone just wants to put things right on Saturday.

“Scunthorpe have just got rid of their manager and we’re expecting a tough game, but hopefully we can get the result we want.

“We’re only six points from the play-offs with a game in hand and nine points behind Oxford who are top, so it’s not all doom and gloom. A couple of wins and we’ll be right up there.”

Tom Craddock is 11/2 with Sky Bet to score the first goal on Saturday and if you open an account at www.skybet.com/pompey and deposit before the end of November, the club receives £10.
