West Ham defender arrives on loan
Pompey have secured the signing of defender Dan Potts from West Ham on a month-long loan.
The 19-year-old – who can operate at left-back or in the centre of defence – has made 11 appearances for the Premier League side.
He played in the Hammers’ Capital One Cup victory at Burnley earlier in the season and had a spell on loan at Colchester last term.
And Potts is excited about the opportunity of turning out in front of a packed Fratton Park.
He said: “I was told about Pompey’s interest yesterday, so I grabbed my gear and came straight down here.
“Despite the division they now find themselves in, they are still regarded as a massive club.
“The thought of playing at Fratton Park before the sort of crowds that come to Pompey is a really exciting prospect.
“I just want to play first team football, so hopefully I can benefit the team and help us get some good results.”
Potts has represented England at under-18, under-19 and under-20 level despite originally turning out for America.
He is the son of former West Ham skipper Steve Potts, who made more than 500 appearances for the London club.
