Portsmouth Football Club Statement

14 November 2013

Pyrotechnic devices and throwing of objects prohibited

Following a number of recent incidents which have been reported by officials involving Pompey fans both at Fratton Park and at away games, the club would like to remind a small minority of supporters that the throwing of objects onto the playing area or the use of pyrotechnic devices, such as smoke bombs or flares, is strictly forbidden.

Any supporter who is proven to be involved in any such incidents will face potential prosecution and a substantial ban from attending matches both away and at Fratton Park.

The Football Association is currently investigating a number of incidents involving a tiny section of supporters.

The club is already running the risk of attracting a fine for these infringements and if the misbehaviour continues, could face further penalties including the enforced closure of sections of the ground and restrictions on away ticket sales.

Portsmouth Football Club would ask all fans to be vigilant and if they suspect or see such behaviour or devices being used in the stadium, they should immediately report it to a steward.
