Defender delighted with winner against Bury
He was brought in to make Pompey stronger at the back.
But it is Bondz N’Gala’s goalscoring prowess that is currently creating all the headlines.
The centre-back netted a brace to down Rochdale at the start of October.
And he continued his fine Fratton goalscoring form by grabbing the only goal of the game early on against Bury.
“Three points, a clean sheet and a goal,” said N’Gala. “I’m really pleased with that.
“I was pretty happy with the goal. It was a good header and I was just glad to be able to help the team.
“We work on situations like that a lot in training and thankfully it seems to be paying off at the moment.
“The gaffer and Macca are always on at Sonny Bradley and me to get goals. They believe in us and tell us to do the same.”
N’Gala was also happy at the way Pompey blunted Bury’s attacks as the visitors went in search of an equaliser.
He said: “We defended fantastically well in the second half and were able to grind out the result.
“It’s always a physical battle in this division, but our team is well equipped for that. We’ve got strong players here.
“We haven’t made a bad start to the season, but now we’re looking to push on and show the fans what we’re made of.
“We can’t think about this match for too long because we’ve got to prepare for another tough game against Wycombe on Tuesday night.
“There aren’t any easy games in this division, but hopefully we can continue our unbeaten run.”
