N'Gala: A Perfect Day

5 October 2013

Goal hero delighted with Rochdale performance

He had only scored three times in his entire senior career.

But Bondz N’Gala was Pompey’s goal hero as they cruised to a comfortable victory over high-flying Rochdale.

The defender’s two second half headers helped secure a 3-0 triumph after Jed Wallace had earlier opened the scoring.

And N’Gala was also happy to be part of a back-line that limited the visitors to very few chances.

He said: “It couldn’t have gone much better for me. The two goals were great, but I’m happier with the clean sheet.

“It’s a great feeling and it just goes to show what we can do when we’re all gelling. We’ve got a good squad and I definitely think we can do well in this division.

“I missed a chance in the first half, but I was determined to make amends and help get the win for the team.

“Sonny and I were queuing for the first one and if I hadn’t have scored then he definitely would have.

“Two goals in 14 minutes isn’t something I’ve done before, so now I have to push on and get a few more.

“It could have been a hat-trick because I should have got another towards the end, but we’ve got the three points and that’s the main thing.”

N’Gala now believes it is vital that Pompey start finding some consistency.

He said: “It was a massive turnaround from last week, but we owed it to the fans to put in a good performance.

“Now it’s important for us to get back-to-back victories if we want to start climbing the table.”
