Yassin: No Complacency

22 October 2013

Right-back knows his spot is coveted

Pompey now have competition for places in every position.

That’s especially true in the right-back berth, where Shaun Cooper, Danny East and Joe Devera can all play.

But it’s Yassin Moutaouakil currently in favour, despite recently having to sit out three matches following his red card at Burton.

And the Frenchman is certainly not feeling complacent with so many people waiting to steal his spot.

“When I got my red card I didn’t know what was going to happen,” he says in the official matchday magazine for tonight’s clash with Wycombe. “The people who take your place might do really well or the manager might change his mind about you.

“You just have to make sure you work hard, so you give the gaffer a difficult decision when you’re available again.

“I have some tough competition for my place in the side. Shaun has a lot of experience, Danny is a young lad who can play well in that position and Joe has also played there a lot for Swindon.

“But I was able to come straight back into the team and I’m praying to God that it’s going to stay like that.”

You can read the full interview with Moutaouakil in the official matchday magazine tonight.

Issue eight is another packed edition with a double-sided pull-out poster and collectable player cards among the great features.

Also in the perfect-bound 84-page publication, Dan Butler discusses his firsts and there are exclusive columns from Iain McInnes, Guy Whittingham and Johnny Ertl.

We take an in-depth look at Wycombe and there’s the gripping conclusion to the latest adventure for Nelson and Mary Rose in our fantastic comic strip.

Plus augmented reality technology – courtesy of our friends at Blippar and Navigate Digital – will bring the programme to life.

Tonight’s matchday magazine is available to buy from programme sellers in and around Fratton Park and is great value at just £3.
