Coaching Role For Connolly

25 September 2013

Striker will work with Whittingham and McLoughlin

David Connolly will undertake a player/coach role at Portsmouth Football Club.

Blues boss Guy Whittingham said: “David has played at the highest level and for some very good clubs – his knowledge is excellent.

“He will remain, first and foremost, an important player for us, but he wanted to learn more about the coaching side of the game.

“David will work with me and Alan McLoughlin, with first team and development group input.”

Connolly – who represented Republic of Ireland at the 2002 World Cup – arrived at Pompey back in January and has scored 11 goals in 23 appearances.
