Meet Awford at Fratton Park event

Fans are invited to an exclusive launch for the new Pompey Lottery, which will aim to raise significant funds every year for the development of young players.

Featuring a question and answer session with caretaker manager Andy Awford, the Victory Bar event on Tuesday, April 29 starts at 7pm, with doors opening at 6pm.

The Express FM Football Hour, hosted by Dan Windle, will be broadcast live there between 6pm and 7pm.

Academy products Dan Butler, Jed Wallace and Jack Whatmough will also be in attendance, as will Eric Coleborn, one of the club's presidents, who launched the original Pompey Lottery back in the 1970s when he worked in the commercial department.

Fans will be able to find out all about the new weekly lottery, which will offer them a chance to win cash prizes and a whole host of money-can't-buy-experiences at Fratton Park.

There will also be a cash bar and afterwards the Champions League semi-final second leg between Bayern Munich and Real Madrid will be shown on the big screen.

Pompey chief executive Mark Catlin said: “The lottery is a significant fundraising initiative for the club and we are sure fans will want to support it. It is an affordable way every fan can back the club.

“The cash it raises will be earmarked for developing our young players, which is something we are sure every fan will back.

“In recent months we have begun to see the benefits of developing our own players through the likes of Jack Whatmough and Adam Webster breaking into the first team.

“We have been planning the lottery launch for several months now and it is an important funding strand for the club going forward.

“We are sure the free launch event will be well-attended and I urge fans to reserve their tickets as soon as possible.”
Fans can reserve places for the event by emailing and there will be an opportunity to sign up for the lottery on the night.
