STOKE TRIP FOR POMPEY

13 August 2014

Blues away in Capital One Cup

Pompey have been drawn away to Premier League Stoke in the second round of the Capital One Cup.

The tie will be played at the Britannia Stadium in the week commencing August 25.

Pompey and Stoke have not met since both sides were in the top flight during the 2009/10 campaign.

The Potters won both league matches that season, but the Blues triumphed 4-0 in the fourth round of the League Cup, thanks to Frederic Piquionne's brace and goals from Danny Webber and Kanu.

Pompey were also victorious in the only other clash between the sides in this competition. Kevin Dillon was on target twice in a third round win in October 1985.
