Alfei Arrives On Loan

Blues snap up Swansea defender

Pompey have signed Daniel Alfei on a one-month loan deal from Swansea, subject to Premier League and international clearance.

The 21-year-old right-back is a product of the Welsh club’s academy and will wear the number 15 shirt for the Blues.

And he is hoping to get a regular run of games during his time at Fratton Park

Alfei said: “It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for – a massive club to come to and play some football.

“There are big crowds here and it’s the perfect move at this stage of my career.

“I’ve been in the reserves at Swansea, but I really need to be playing first team football and I want help this club out.

“I think of myself as an attacking right-back, so hopefully I can get some assists and maybe a goal or two.

“As a defender I have to concentrate on helping the side not to concede, but I like to get forward as well.”

Pompey’s assistant manager Anthony Williams added: “Daniel’s at the stage where he’s probably ready for first team football and with the way Swansea play football he’s technically very good.

“He’s an athletic player and will hopefully prove to be a good addition to the squad.”

Alfei – who has represented Wales at under-21 level – has made four senior appearances for Swansea and also enjoyed a couple of successful spells on loan at Wrexham.
