Simon Ferry has recovered from a hamstring injury to skipper the Pompey side at Oxford this afternoon.
The midfielder is one of five changes from the side that lost at Southend on New Year’s Day.
Daniel Alfei, Nicky Shorey and Ryan Taylor are all handed debuts, while Patrick Agyemang returns up front.
Bondz N’Gala, Jack Whatmough, David Connolly and Ryan Bird all drop to the bench, while Ricky Holmes misses out with a head injury.
Jake Jervis has not received international clearance in time to feature at the Kassam Stadium.
