Fogden Looking Ahead

Midfielder wants success at Pompey

Wes Fogden knows that Pompey will have to battle their way clear from the League Two drop zone.

The recent arrival is poised to make his debut against Mansfield on Saturday, with the Blues just one point clear of the bottom two.

But the 25-year-old midfielder believes that his new club have enough quality to increase that gap.

And he is already looking ahead to a more successful campaign on the south coast next season.

Fogden said: “We can’t get ahead of ourselves – we need to take each game as it comes.

“Every debut is important, but to walk out in front of such great fans at a great stadium will be special.

“We are down there at the moment and we have to scrap, but I’m confident we can move up the table.

“This season is all about stabilising and staying in the league, so we can hopefully push for promotion next year.

“The fans have supported this club through thick and thin, so we want to get back up through the leagues for them.”

Fogden is looking forward to getting back out on the pitch again after a frustrating first half of the season at Bournemouth.

He said: “It started in pre-season – the day before we were playing Real Madrid – when I got a cut on my heel and that set me back.

“I was raring to go, but then I felt a hernia and that needed an operation, so it’s been a frustrating season so far.

“I haven’t played a competitive game for a while, but I’ve been working hard in training to get fit.”

Fogden is 14/1 with Sky Bet to score the opening goal against Mansfield. Open an account at www.skybet.com/pompey to receive great offers and earn money for the club.
