Former Hawks midfielder pens Fratton deal

Pompey have signed Wes Fogden on an 18-month deal, with the option of a further year.

The 25-year-old midfielder was a free agent after leaving Bournemouth.

And he is excited about the chance to play in front of the Fratton faithful on a regular basis.

Fogden said: “Everyone knows what a big club this is and the fans here are also a huge attraction. This is a brilliant opportunity for me.

“I spoke to Richard Hughes and he told me that this would be a great move.

“I played here last season in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy and the supporters were fantastic.

“But what really stood out was when they came to Bournemouth. We came out for a warm down after the game and the fans were still there and singing away.

“I’ll work hard and give everything for the cause to try to help give the side a boost.”

Fogden started his career at Brighton and had a short spell at Dorchester before signing for Havant & Waterlooville in February 2009.

His impressive form at Westleigh Park secured a 2011 move to the Cherries, where he made a total of 59 appearances.

Fogden was in the Bournemouth side that lost at Fratton Park on penalties in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy last season.
