Another important fanfunding milestone reached
Pompey’s fanfunding campaign has passed the £100,000 milestone – with more than five weeks to go before the campaign to raise £250,000 for two additional academy pitches come to an end.
On Thursday night the campaign page and club Twitter feed went into overdrive as fans of the Blues, as well as other clubs, got involved.
Project manager Colin Farmery said: “It’s incredible. What’s happened so far has been nothing short of extraordinary. £100,000. Wow.
“We’ve not only had Pompey fans contributing, but former players, fans from Walsall, Manchester United, Spurs, Wolves… the list just goes on and on.”
Manager Andy Awford and first team coaches Alan McLoughlin and Paul Hardyman were also there to witness the milestone around breakfast time, as they prepared for training.
Other fans, such as Steve Mclenaghan, have not only made significant contributions throughout the campaign, but have also donated the rewards they’ve purchased back to the club so they can be bought by others.
Former Pompey goalkeeper Jamie Ashdown and his wife have already made their contribution and he tweeted earlier this week that he was “glad to be involved”.
And we’ve had contributions from BBC’s The Apprentice winner of 2012, wrestler and lifelong Blues fan Ricky Martin – who also purchased rewards for his father.
Pompey’s engagement manager Micah Hall wants more of the same. He said: “We’ve been encouraging local companies, partners and sponsors to get involved in this project and share in this fantastic story.
“This is one for the whole community and we want everybody to be part of this experience.
“Now we’ve reached £100,000 we need everybody to stand up and be proud of what’s been achieved so we can push on to the next major milestone.”
Colin added: “And we should not forget that Tifosy are doing this for nothing. Every penny of every contribution is going towards our academy pitches to build our future, and we’re all committed to doing everything in our power to make it happen.”
