Eight academy hopefuls pen deals
Eight young players have signed scholarships at Pompey.
Alex Bass, Calvin Davies, Kaleem Haitham, Brandon Joseph-Buadi, Adam May, Christian Oxlade-Chamberlain, Liam Sayers and Dory Yates have all penned two-year deals with the Blues academy.
Full-back Davies, midfielder Oxlade-Chamberlain and winger Haitham all hail from Portsmouth.
Goalkeeper Bass, centre-back Yates and midfielder May come from elsewhere in Hampshire, while Sayers is from Dorset and Joseph-Buadi from Sussex.
Academy manager Mark Kelly said: “It’s a proud day for all of the boys and their families.
“They’ve worked extremely hard to get to this point and deserve a pat on the back for that.
“But the hard work now begins again because there are a lot of challenges ahead for them in this job.
“They’ll all now be working towards earning a professional contract and we hope they can achieve that.”
