Loan signing excited about playing at Fratton

Alex Wynter has experienced the crowd at Fratton Park before.

He travelled down with the Crystal Palace squad for a first team game earlier in his career and was impressed with what he witnessed.

The defender has now joined Pompey on a season-long loan from the Premier League Eagles.

And he is looking forward to stepping out onto the pitch and having the crowd on his side.

“I’m delighted to be here,” said the 20-year-old. “This is a massive club and I can’t wait to get going.

“I was involved in the matchday squad here for Palace a few seasons ago and the atmosphere was crazy. The crowd gave me goosebumps and it was a great experience.

“The chance to play in front of 16,000 people can only benefit my game and I’m sure I’ll learn a lot here.

“This is a fantastic club with great history and tradition and I’m looking forward to the challenge of playing in League Two.

“I feel fit and ready to go and I can’t wait for pre-season to end and the league matches to start.

“I work hard and give my all in every game, but I’m also comfortable on the ball and like to get it down and play.”

Crystal Palace team-mate Joel Ward made 96 appearances after coming through the ranks at Fratton Park, but Wynter has yet to turn to him for advice.

The 20-year-old said: “It’s all happened so quickly and I haven’t had a chance to speak to Wardy about the move, but I’m sure I’ll be giving him a text soon.”
