JED: I FEEL WANTED HERE

Midfielder delighted to extend Pompey stay

It was a soap opera saga that ran throughout the 2013/14 campaign.

But Jed Wallace has now put to bed questions about his Pompey future by signing a new three-year contract.

The 20-year-old midfielder netted seven goals last term to finish as the Blues’ top scorer.

And he is delighted to be extending his stay with a club where he now feels settled.

Wallace said: “There’s obviously been a lot of speculation about whether I’d sign a new deal, so I’m pleased that can all end now.

“Everyone’s stayed patient with me. I said that I would go on holiday after the season and then make a decision when I came back – that’s exactly what I’ve done.

“Things can be a bit unstable in modern-day football, so I’m pleased to have signed for three years.

“I’m at a club where I’m wanted and appreciated and that was an important factor for me.

“I know the manager really well and he was another big reason for why I wanted to stay.

“I’m looking forward to a positive season at Fratton Park and hopefully we can keep everyone happy.”

Wallace was a mainstay in the Blues squad last term and is hoping for more of the same in 2014/15.

He said: “I’m sure there is going to be a strong squad at Pompey next season, so I just want to play as many games as I can.

“I set myself a target of 40 games last season and achieved that, so I’ll be looking for something similar this time around.”

Jed Wallace is a product of Pompey's academy and keep an eye out on this website and on our YouTube channel to find out how you can help them find a permanent home.
