HEAVY DEFEAT FOR LADIES

12 May 2014

Blues beaten 4-0 at Coventry

Pompey Ladies suffered their biggest defeat of the season as they went down 4-0 at title-chasing Coventry.

The visitors did have opportunities to forge ahead, as Naomi Greene, Gemma Hillier and Molly Clark all went close in a goalless first half.

But the Sky Blues took control after the interval and broke the deadlock when Nikki Miles latched onto Natalie Brace’s through ball and slid a shot past Sadie Blakely.

And Helen Dermody then fed Annabel Johnson to double the hosts’ advantage on the hour mark.

Hayley Ladd added a third goal on 77 minutes with a superb strike into the top corner before Destiney Toussaint completed the scoring late on.

Pompey: Blakely; Frampton (James 59), Sievwright, Russell, Bazan; Bloomfield (Moulton 76), Clark, Kempson, Quinn; Greene, Hillier (c)
