JED: TIME TO PUSH ON

Midfielder urges more of the same after Carlisle triumph

Pompey eased to a 3-0 victory over Carlisle with a totally dominant display at Fratton Park.

And Jed Wallace has urged them to maintain that form to push for promotion.

Craig Westcarr, Miles Storey and Danny Hollands were all on target as the Cumbrians were crushed on the south coast.

But Wallace is adamant that the performance cannot be just a one-off.

The midfielder said: “It’s a great result for us, but our home form has been terrific all season.

“We started well – as we did at Shrewsbury the previous week – and that’s something we’ve been working on.

“When you’ve got the pace that we have in the side then you’re going to cause problems, especially on the break.

“But we have to produce that intensity every week if we want to get promoted – we haven’t done it enough this season.

“Our last three performance have been very consistent and we’ve got something to build now.”

Ricky Holmes was one of the stand-out performers, with a fantastic pass setting up Miles Storey for Pompey’s second.

Wallace said: “It’s been a frustrating few weeks for Ricky and he’s still getting over his back injury.

“But everyone saw last season what he can produce and I think we’re now seeing the best of him again.”
