HOLMES: MORE CONSISTENCY NEEDED

31 October 2014

Winger interviews in Saturday's programme

Ricky Holmes has targeted a consistent run of form to push Pompey up the League Two table.

The Blues have not won back-to-back matches since August and have slipped to 14th place.

But they are still only three points adrift of the play-off spots and have been beaten just once at home.

So Holmes knows that a promotion push is still very much in Pompey’s sights with more than half the campaign remaining.

“York were down with us last season, but put a run together and ended up in the play-offs,” he says in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash with Carlisle. “All it takes is a run of results and you can shoot up this division.

“We thought Bury were pretty decent after they beat us, but then they went to Shrewsbury and were hammered 5-0.

“It just shows you that anything can happen and it’s consistency that will get you promoted.

“It’s all well and good saying that, though – now we have to produce on the pitch.”
