Defender confident ahead of Shakers test
Alex Wynter hopes the pressure will get to Bury on Saturday.
Pompey travel to the JD Stadium this weekend to take on the League Two title favourites.
The Shakers currently sit third in the table and could go top with victory over the Blues.
Andy Awford’s side have drawn their last four league matches, but Wynter insists that has not dented their confidence.
The on-loan defender said: “We didn’t get going against Mansfield last Saturday, although we’re not machines and that will happen at times.
“But we’ve got to make sure that doesn’t last long and that we can get out of it without the gaffer having to get into us at half-time.
“But morale’s always high here – I realised that when I first arrived here over the summer. We’ve got a good bunch of lads here and everyone’s confident.
“We got a point on the board last Saturday – it’s not what we wanted, but it gives us something to build on this weekend.
“Playing at Fratton Park in front of so many people is amazing, but sometimes you can play better away when the pressure’s all on the home team.”
Wynter has started all of Pompey’s last nine matches and has enjoyed his time on the south coast since arriving from Crystal Palace over the summer.
He said: “I came here to play games and gain experience and that’s exactly what I’m getting.
“The gaffer has used me a lot so far this season and I want to repay the faith he’s shown in me.
“The fans here are so passionate and you see blue wherever you go in the city, so I want to show them what I can do.”
