BOSS BACKS CITY OF FOOTBALL BID

5 September 2014

A message from Andy Awford

If you are not already aware, the city of Portsmouth has been shortlisted, along with Manchester and Nottingham, to become England’s very first official City of Football.

A £1.6 million Sport England grant is up for grabs as three finalists battle it out for the illustrious title and much-needed revenue to improve football from a grassroots level across the city.

A Sport England delegation will be visiting Portsmouth on Monday, September 8.

Portsmouth being crowned the City of Football will have a huge impact on our city, so show your support by coming along to the Guildhall Square at 3.15pm on Monday.

Wear your Pompey shirt or anything and fill the square with everything football related – flags, rattles and scarves!

Let’s recreate our Fratton Park atmosphere in the Guildhall Square!

We need to show Portsmouth’s passion for football and all things Pompey. If you can’t be there, please tweet your support and send us your footy pictures via the social media sites

Our city came together to save its football club – now let’s give football back to the city.

Thanks for your support.

Play More Pompey!
