HOLLANDS: WE'RE IN A GOOD PLACE

12 September 2014

Midfielder confident ahead of Southend visit

Danny Hollands believes Pompey can get back on track at Southend this weekend.

The Blues have lost their last two league fixtures against Newport and Burton.

But Hollands is not overly concerned by that, especially with Pompey still well-placed in the table.

And the midfielder believes they have shown enough in recent matches to suggest victory at Roots Hall is a distinct possibility.

He said: “It’s another tough test for us, but despite the two losses, I think we’re in a good place at the moment.

“We feel we can go there and collect all three points – it’s certainly not all doom and gloom here.

“Most people would be happy with the performances we’ve produced so far and where we’re sitting in the table.

“We’ve also beaten two League One sides in the cup competitions and now we have to build.

“A big positive is that we’ve been creating chances – if you’re losing and not doing that then it’s a problem.

“Now we have to start taking those and it’s the whole team that have to do that, not just the strikers.”

Hollands has enjoyed having a full week to prepare for Southend following a hectic start to the 2014/15 campaign.

He said: “Everyone likes to play games, but they can catch up with you – it feels like we’ve had half a season already.

“It’s probably the most I’ve played in such a short space of time since I’ve been a professional.

“You need to have that time to rest and recuperate before the next match, so it’s nice that we’ve had that this week.”

Tickets for Pompey’s next home match against Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday, September 16 (7.45pm kick-off) are available to buy online here.
