Local company backing under-11s
Havant-based worldwide load monitoring specialist, Straightpoint, has recently been confirmed as the main sponsor for Portsmouth's under-11 side during the 2014/15 season.
The team consists of players who have been scouted from the local area and selected to play for the academy's elite programme.
All of the sponsorship money goes towards the academy, helping to buy the team's equipment and kits.
Straightpoint's UK headquarters are based in Havant and directors David Ayling and Peter McGreal are long-standing Pompey fans.
Academy manager Mark Kelly said: “We are really grateful for this sponsorship deal from Straightpoint as it epitomises what a community club is all about.
“This a local company supporting the development of young players and we are delighted to have them on board.”
Straightpoint director Peter McGreal added: “David and I have been supporters/season ticket holders of the club for more than 40 years combined.
As a local business we are impressed with the fact that Portsmouth FC is now a community club, owned by the fans.
“We are proud to support local, budding talent and contribute towards the Pompey stars of tomorrow.
“In line with Straightpoint's strategy of investing in our apprentices, this is a perfect fit and puts something back into the local community.”
