BENNETT: BRING IT ON

7 August 2015

Summer signing looking forward to Daggers opener

He is one of 13 new faces Paul Cook has added to the Pompey squad over the summer.

And Kyle Bennett is looking forward to the chance to run-out at Fratton Park for the first time since joining the Blues.

Dagenham & Redbridge are the visitors for the first match of the 2015/16 campaign and have also been busy in the transfer marker.

But midfielder Bennett has tipped his side to get the season off to the perfect start.

He said: “We’re all ready, everyone’s happy and looking forward to getting started.

“The manager’s brought in some quality players – people like Christian Burgess, Gary Roberts and Enda Stevens who have all played at a higher level.

“That speaks volumes about the manager we have here and also the size of this football club.

“Everyone’s been great in pre-season and there has been a lot of mental toughness to get through some difficult sessions.

“Dagenham have added some new players as well and we’re not sure what they will go with, but as long as we do our jobs then I’m sure we’ll be fine.

“If we can do what we set out to do from the very start then I don’t think anyone can come near us.”

There is set to be a bumper crowd at Fratton this weekend to watch the new-look Pompey side in action.

Bennett said: “I can’t wait. The chance to walk out in front of 17,000 people is going to be amazing, especially for the new lads who haven’t played here before.”
