HOLLANDS: NO FEAR

24 August 2015

Midfielder confident ahead of Reading test

Danny Hollands has already helped Pompey achieve one Capital One Cup giant-killing this season.

And now the midfielder has Reading in his sights ahead of Tuesday night’s Fratton clash.

Goals from Adam McGurk and Conor Chaplin ensured that Derby came a cropper when they visited the south coast a fortnight ago.

So Hollands is hoping that the Blues can maintain their unbeaten start to the campaign against the Royals.

He said: “We did well in the first round against Derby and now we’ve got another tough test against Championship opposition.

“We didn’t just beat them – we more than held our own throughout the game, getting the ball down to play some nice stuff and creating plenty of chances.

“The way we’ve started the season has been very good and we showed plenty of character to get a point against Morecambe on Saturday.

“When you’re playing well and getting results, you want the next game to come along straight away and keep the ball rolling.

“Hopefully we can do ourselves justice against Reading because we want to do as well as we can in the competition.

“We’ll give them plenty of respect, but there’s no need to fear them because we’ve shown we can beat teams from their league.”

Hollands has yet to start a league game this season, but is prepared to bide his time.

He said: “That’s up the manager – he picks the team. Obviously it’s nice to get on the pitch, but all I can do is get my head down, train well and do a good job when I get my chance.

“When you get the shirt the job is to play as well as you can to give the gaffer a bit of a headache.”
