MATCH PREVIEW: POMPEY v MORECAMBE

21 August 2015

All you need to know about League Two clash

Morecambe will be striving for a first ever win at Fratton Park when they visit the south coast on Saturday.

They have lost 3-0 in each of the two previous to Pompey and have only won one of their four games so far this term.

Jim Bentley’s side were beaten 2-0 at Hartlepool on the opening day before exiting the Capital One Cup at the hands of Sheffield United.

The Shrimps then recorded their first victory in the Lancashire derby against Accrington last Saturday, although followed that up with defeat to Wycombe.

They finished 11th in League Two last term, eight points adrift of the play-offs and a comfortable 22 clear of the bottom two.

TEAM NEWS
Ben Davies could miss out for Pompey after going off with a hamstring injury at Crawley on Tuesday night.

Jack Whatmough (knee) is still sidelined, while Kal Naismith continues his recovery from a thigh problem.

The visitors will be without skipper Peter Murphy, who damaged knee ligaments at Hartlepool on his debut.
