Teenager rewarded for fine academy form
Adam May has signed a first-year professional contract with Pompey.
The 17-year-old midfielder has already made his senior debut for the club after coming off the bench for the final few minutes of last season’s home match against Bury.
He was also a regular for the under-18 side, scoring four goals in 30 appearances for the young Blues.
Academy manager Mark Kelly said: “It’s very well deserved. Adam’s been consistent and produced good performances to make us believe he can make the next step.
“Fans got a little glimpse of him at the back-end of last season and saw he was an accomplished player.
“He’s comfortable on the ball and has got excellent distribution – hopefully he has a bright future in the game.
“This is just the first step on the ladder, though, and he understands that there is a lot of hard work ahead.”
