HOLLANDS: WE ENJOYED THAT

14 February 2015

Midfielder delighted with victory over Exeter

A nine-match winless run saw Pompey start to slide down the League Two table.

But Danny Hollands believes successive home wins will help their confidence rise again.

The Blues have now collected eight points from the last four games after seeing off Exeter at Fratton Park.

Jed Wallace scored the only goal to down the Grecians after earlier blazing a penalty high over the crossbar.

And Hollands felt that Pompey deserved to claim all three points after impressing at both ends of the pitch.

The midfielder said: “I was happy with our performance throughout – we defended well and created plenty of chances.

“Exeter came here with a certain style and we knew it was going to be a tough game, so we’re pleased to get the win.

“You fear the worst when you miss a penalty and think it’s not going to be your day, but our character showed.

“On another occasion we might have scored a few more, but we’re just delighted to get a massive three points.

“When the results start going your way, everything starts to become a lot more enjoyable.

“Hopefully we can crack on now, keep producing positive performances and start to climb the table.”

Hollands was happy that Wallace overcame his disappointment to secure victory for Pompey.

He said: “It’s not nice when you miss a penalty and the result doesn’t go for you, but it was all good in the end.

“Jed is one of those lads who keeps getting on the ball and tries to make things happen.”
