Striker arrives at Fratton Park
Pompey have signed Matt Tubbs on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
The 30-year-old was available as a free agent after leaving Bournemouth earlier in the week.
He spent the first half of the season on loan at AFC Wimbledon, netting 15 goals in 30 appearances.
Blues boss Andy Awford said: “We’re delighted that Matt chose to come here because he received similar offers from other clubs.
“We’ve signed a top goalscorer and hopefully he’ll continue in that vein with us.
“I’ve seen a lot of Matt in action and know exactly what he’ll bring to the side, so I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Tubbs was a youth-team player with Bolton and Bournemouth before dropping into the non-league game and turning out for Dorchester and Salisbury.
He then enjoyed a prolific spell with Crawley, helping the Sussex wide win promotion into the Football League.
Tubbs’ goalscoring exploits earned a move back to Bournemouth, although he has spent most of the last 18 months out on loan at Rotherham, Crawley and the Dons.
An exclusive interview with Tubbs will be available to watch on Pompey Player later today. Sign up now and take advantage of the January sale!
