STOCKLEY ARRIVES ON LOAN

7 July 2015

Blues bring in Bournemouth striker

Pompey have signed Jayden Stockley on loan from Bournemouth until January.

The 21-year-old striker had stints with fellow League Two sides Cambridge and Luton last term.

And he is looking forward to the opportunity to make his mark on the Fratton faithful.

Stockley said: “I’ve already got a lot of experience and hopefully I can contribute something to this good side.

“The size of the club and the style of play preferred by the manager both attracted me to the club.

“There’s a lot of talent around the place and I think we can all be optimistic about the season ahead.

“I’ve played at this level before and it’s a tough league to get out of, but there’s enough quality and character in this team to give it a good go.

“Pompey away was always a fixture you looked forward to and wanted to play in – now I’m happy to have the fantastic fans on my side.

“I’ve played here before when I was on loan at Torquay and we won. It’s a magnificent place to play football.”

Blues fans will get their first sighting of the striker on Saturday when Pompey make the short trip to Westleigh Park for their opening friendly against Havant & Waterlooville.

Stockley said: “It’s always good to blow away the cobwebs after the summer break, get a ball at your feet and express yourself.

“That first league game on August 8 is not far away now and I think that’s something we’re all looking forward to.

“Hopefully the hard work we put in during pre-season will stand us in good stead for the campaign ahead.”

Stockley is a product of Bournemouth’s academy and has made 22 senior appearances for the Cherries.

As well as his time at Luton and Cambridge, he has had spells on loan at Accrington, Woking, Leyton Orient and Torquay.
