FOGDEN: FANS WERE FANTASTIC

27 March 2015

Midfielder interviewed for Shrewsbury programme

He has had to make a long road to recovery.

But Wes Fogden is finally over his knee ligament injury and pushing for a place in the starting line-up.

The midfielder has made four substitute appearances as he is slowly phased back into the Pompey side.

And Fogden has revealed that the Fratton faithful kept him going through those tough months on the sidelines.

“The fans have been brilliant and I want to thank them for all their support,” he says in the official matchday magazine for Saturday’s clash with Shrewsbury. “I had a lot of messages on Facebook and even just people coming up to me.

“I appreciate all the nice words they’ve given me during my time out and it really did help me to take my mind off things.

“When I first got injured and knew that I was facing a long period out, it was mentally very tough.

“So to know you’ve got that level of backing is fantastic. I already knew they were great fans from what I saw last season, but this just confirmed it.”
