PST representative becomes a club director
Portsmouth Football Club would like to welcome their newest director – Pompey Supporters’ Trust representative John Kimbell.
Thirty-nine-year-old John joins the board to replace Mick Williams, who stepped down last month after his resignation from the PST board.
With a background in marketing – he is the managing partner London-based digital media agency Navigate Digital – John brings a wealth of experience to the club.
Pompey chairman Iain McInnes said: “It is a pleasure to welcome John onto the board. His expertise suggests he has much to bring to board meetings and his passion for Pompey is evident.
“I am confident he will be a great addition and I look forward to working with him.”
John added: “It’s safe to say Pompey is in my blood and, like many fans, I have experienced the highs and lows of being a fan over the last 32 years.
“I’ve gone full circle and seen us play in every league – home and away. I feel I know the club inside out and also what makes fans tick.
“It’s a unique club and I think it takes a unique type of person to fully get what Pompey is all about.
“It’s important that we have strong Trust representation on the club board and the fact we do is something we should all be very grateful of.
“It’s an opportunity for wider fan opinion to be heard in the boardroom and I am determined to ensure that happens.
“Naturally I’ll be looking to offer my expertise in marketing, but ultimately I hope my experience in business and my passion to see Pompey successful both on and off the pitch is a strong combination that will ultimately benefit the club.”
John will take his place in the directors' box for today’s match against Shrewsbury.
