HOLLANDS: FANS DESERVE SOMETHING TO CHEER

1 May 2015

Midfielder hoping to end season with a win

The 2014/15 season will not be one that Pompey fans look on with a great deal of relish.

There was no flirtation with the drop like the previous campaign, with the Blues bobbing along in mid-table for much of the time.

But after last week’s triumph at Mansfield, there is the chance to end with back-to-back victories.

And Danny Hollands is hoping Pompey can see off York this weekend to give the supporters something to celebrate.

The midfielder said: “It’s not been the best of campaigns for us and we haven’t finished as high as we would have liked.

“All the players are disappointed with what’s happened and we wanted to be pushing for promotion.

“But the important thing now is to win this last game and then try to push on next season.

“York have had some really good results of late and it’s going to be a tough test for us, but we’re confident.

“We want to end on a high with back-to-back victories to give the fans something to cheer about.

“That’s then what you remember because it’s fresh in everyone’s mind and you can take that into the summer.”

Hollands insists that the whole squad will be raring to go when they return from the summer break.

He said: “A new manager’s coming in and he’ll have different opinions, so we need to impress him in pre-season.

“The board will do their homework and get the right person in. Once they make the decision it’s up to him to get his squad together.”

Hollands is 12/1 to open the scoring against York. Bet at www.skybet.com/pompey to increase our chances of claiming £250,000 from the Sky Bet Transfer Fund.
