ROBINSON: A FRESH START FOR ALL

7 May 2015

Defender looking forward to pre-season return

The Pompey squad have now departed for their summer break.

But it will be all change when they report back for pre-season training at the end of June.

With a new manager yet to be appointed and several players out of contract, there will be plenty of activity in the meantime.

And after missing the last 10 games with a fractured cheekbone, Paul Robinson is already eagerly anticipating the build-up to the 2015/16 campaign.

The defender said: “I was disappointed with the way things ended and having to sit out of the last few matches.

“It was frustrating for me and I feel like I’ve had my break already – I’m already raring to go and looking forward to being back out there.

“Like everyone, I’ll be looking to get away and spend a bit of time with the family first.

“But with a new manager coming in, I’m sure we’ll all be working hard over the summer to make sure we’re in good shape.

“We’ll be looking to impress the new man – whoever he is – when we return for the start of pre-season.

“There are a few guys out of contract, but even those who aren’t will be starting with a clean slate.”

Pompey could only manage a 16th-placed finish in League Two this term and Robinson is targeting a big improvement.

He said: “I think there has been some progress, but not enough for anyone to be satisfied by and we’ll be looking to put that right.

“It was rather underwhelming, so hopefully we can put together a campaign that everyone will enjoy.”
