DAVIES HOPING FOR ANOTHER HOME TIE

9 November 2015

Defender looks ahead to second round draw

Pompey have already had one Fratton fixture in the Emirates FA Cup.

And after seeing off non-league Macclesfield, Ben Davies is hoping for another home tie in the second round.

The Blues will find out their next opponents when the draw is made live on BBC2 at around 7pm tonight.

But Davies knows that his side will have to up their performance levels if they want to go further in the competition.

The right-back said: “We always fancy our chances when we go away, but I’d rather get another home tie, although I don’t really mind who it’s against.

“I’m sure that nobody will fancy coming to play us, so hopefully we can get the luck of the draw.

“We’re in the next round and that’s the main thing, although we were disappointed with our performance against Macclesfield.

“The gaffer tore a strip off us after the game because we were sloppy going forward and gave the ball away too much. That’s not the way we do things.

“Macclesfield had a couple of chances to equalise at the end, so we need to make sure we’re more ruthless in the final third.

“We were all frustrated and every single one of us out there was guilty of being sloppy with the ball.

“Our play is structured around passing and keeping the ball, so that’s why it was so disappointing.

“We’ve got a fantastic squad and so questions will be asked of us when things aren’t going well – and rightly so.”
