DOYLE: MORE TO COME

Skipper says Blues must improve at home

It is the frustrating part of what has largely been a successful season for Pompey.

While the Blues have collected plenty of points of the road, they have only won twice in the league at Fratton Park.

But they have the chance to put that right when AFC Wimbledon visit for Sunday’s televised clash (2.30pm kick-off).

And Doyle is hoping that Pompey can click into gear to maintain their position in the automatic promotion places.

The skipper said: “It’s been a bit stop-start with our home form and I still think there’s an awful lot more to come from our team.

“We’re settled in one of those top three spots at the moment and that’s important, but we’ll keep chasing whoever’s ahead of us.

“We didn’t look after the ball well enough against Macclesfield in the FA Cup last week and were lucky to get away with the win.

“But I don’t think we’re a million miles away from getting some good results at home and getting a massive lift from that.

“There’s still an awful lot of the season still to go and plenty of sides will change positions along the way.

“The important thing is where you are at the end and we just need to make sure we’re still in the top three then.”

Pompey will be facing a Dons side who have won their last three in the league, but exited the FA Cup at the hands of Forest Green.

Doyle said: “We’re not really worried about what AFC Wimbledon do – it’s all about us and how we perform.

“You obviously do your due diligence, but we’ve been very good at focusing on ourselves this season and I don’t think that’s going to change.”
