GREAT EXPECTATIONS

24 November 2015

Lavery interviewed in tonight's programme

It has been more than two months since Pompey last won a league match at Fratton Park.

But they have triumphed three times on the road in that time to keep them well-placed in fifth spot in the table.

Caolan Lavery knows that the Blues must improve their home record if they want to meet expectations, however.

And the on-loan striker insists that the squad are just as keen as the supporters to improve their Fratton form.

“There is an expectancy for us to do well,” he says in the official matchday magazine for tonight’s clash with York. “But that’s shared by the staff and the players.

“We want to win every match that we can and always go out onto the pitch with that mentality.

“But, at the same time, we realise that drawing games and picking up a point could prove to be vital come the end of the campaign.

“You obviously get more support at your home fixtures, though, and everyone who comes to Fratton Park wants to see victories and good performances.

“For whatever reason, our away form has been better for the most part and those who come to see us on the road might be a little bit more patient.”

To read the full interview – where Lavery also talks about the start to his Pompey career – pick up a copy of the matchday magazine from programme sellers tonight.

Also in issue 13, Matt Clarke dishes the dirt on his team-mates and Ben Close selects his dream team.

We take an in-depth look at York before delving into the archives to take a walk down memory lane.

There are also exclusive columns from chairman Iain McInnes, manager Paul Cook and skipper Michael Doyle.

All this and much, much more in a packed 84 pages is available for just £3.
